In 1964, the renowned architect Huig Maaskant designed the robust 'Weena' building as the headquarters for oil giant Texaco. The Hilton Hotel, situated next to this building, was considered the maximum standard for high-rise construction in the city center at the time. Consequently, the building utilizes space within its elongated facade and open interior structure. The building's design makes clever use of the available space. Due to its characteristic post-war design, the Weena building might even be granted national monument status.

The building has recently been transformed into a modern office complex by Anna Architectuur. The CoreIt builds upon the grandeur of this robust building in Rotterdam city centre.

Architect and urban planner Huig Maaskant designed many iconic post-war reconstruction buildings in Rotterdam. He is responsible for, among others, the Groot Handelsgebouw, the Industriegebouw, and the Euromast, and developed the adjacent Weena as a hotspot for major companies such as Shell and Unilever.
