The Kruisplein residential building, at the corner of Diergaardesingel and Kruisplein, was completed in 1985 as the first project of the later renowned architectural firm Mecanoo. The building is situated on the fire boundary of bombed Rotterdam and depicts the transition from the 19th-century Oude Westen district to the modern city center. In form, it symbolizes a bridge between the high-rises and the surrounding low-rises. A beautiful roof terrace has been created on top, offering views of both parts of the city.
