This concrete colossus on the Maashaven harbor holds a special place in the hearts of many Rotterdam residents. Some know it as a grain silo, the purpose for which the building was designed in 1906. Many pass by it daily: the metro stops right outside. For others, the Maassilo is primarily known as Now&Wow, the legendary nightclub that has been located here since 2003. Even now, the Maassilo is a leading party venue, and several companies have offices here.
The fully enclosed party space on the site of the former elevator tower offers stunning views from its tenth-floor roof. In 2022, street artist Chris Versteeg transformed this roof into a parking lot for miniature trams, metro trains, and buses operated by RET. A small tribute to the favorite rolling stock of many graffiti artists.
