WTC Rotterdam has existed since 1936. In 1928, architect J.F. Staal won a competition for the design and built the multifunctional trade fair complex in the Nieuwe Bouwen style. The entrance is striking for its monumental character, which is a far cry from the aforementioned style.
Construction of the well-known high-rise building began in 1984, atop the existing 30s low-rise buildings. Queen Beatrix opened the renovated complex in 1987 under the name Beurs – World Trade Center. In 2014, it was finally given its current name: World Trade Center Rotterdam. From the 93-meter-high roof, you have a magnificent view of the city and can also admire the historic WTC rooftops, Coolsingel, and Beurstraverse from above.
