Iftar at a height
Welcome to Iftar op het Dak (Iftar on a Rooftop)! Join us for a conversation at a height – bigger than ever before. With an iftar menu put together by Abdelkader and Saida Benali, and a VIP view of Rotterdam’s skyline. Underneath the penthouse, there are long set tables where the iftar menu will be served. Join us and enjoy the atmosphere, the food and, of course, the company.
During Ramadan, Djemaa el Fna Rotterdam and the Rotterdamse Dakendagen (Rotterdam Rooftop Days) will be presenting Iftar op het Dak for the third year in a row, where both fasting and non-fasting Muslims and non-Muslims are breaking the fast together. Dinner is served after sunset, but is preceded by a full evening programme.
Put together with care by Abdelkader and Saida Benali, prepared by Westerkaatje.
Starter: Harira, Moroccan chebakia, Syrian baklava, almond milk and dates.
Main: Butter chicken curry or vegetarian curry, fried cauliflower florets, naan bread, papadum and a Moroccan beet salad.
Dessert: Syrian basbousa with coffee and mint tea.
Before we break the fast together, there is room for a conversation at a height. Specially for this Iftar op het Dak, Lydia van Veen, Samira Abbadi and Alia Azzouzi developed the Ramadan question game together. Always wanted to know why Ramadan takes place on a different date every year? And what were the rules regarding not eating and drinking again? This is the evening you have been waiting for on which you may ask each other anything. There is no such thing as a stupid question about Ramadan!
Doors open: 20:30
Start programme: 20:45
Dinner: at sunset, around 22:00
