On top of Zuid

From 1 to 30 June 2023, Rotterdam Rooftop Days transformed six football fields of space on the roof of the Zuidplein shopping centre into an art park. An astonishing 1-kilometre route over a bright yellow path on the roof, past art by 42 artists who were inspired by stories from the neighbourhoods of South Rotterdam.

Zuidplein is an important public transport hub with one of the largest bus stations in the Netherlands. In recent years, the area around it (also known as Hart van Zuid) has changed dramatically due to new construction and renovation of the public space. The shopping centre of the same name celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2022 and was then extensively renovated.
