Swimming in open water is becoming more and more popular in city centers. Places that used to be unsafe are now good spots for a refreshing dip. In the Rijnhaven, a completely new beach with an adjacent park is currently being built. It won’t be finished until 2028, but along the quay at the Kop van Zuid, floating lane dividers have already been installed, so you can safely swim laps there.
This area, the Leuvehaven, could also become a beautiful swimming location in the future. This will be tested on June 15 during the Rotterdam City Swim! With the City Swim, Erasmus MC raises money for scientific research into cancer.
