In the 70s, resistance arose against the business center, which was considered boring and monotonous. Nevertheless, office buildings continued to rise, such as the Coolse Poort in 1979. The building, designed by architect Rob van Erk (Groosman Partners), owes its nickname to the aubergine-colored structure with purple windows. The low pavilions create a pleasant atmosphere at street level, with restaurants and the Alhambra cinema. These buildings were replaced some time ago, and the Coolse Poort was recently fitted with mirrored glass as part of the building's renovation.
