Enjoy a series of film nights (Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7) under the stars on the roof of the Mobypark Delftsestraat parking garage. In collaboration with four well-known Rotterdam film organizations: Roffa Mon Amour, International Film Festival Rotterdam, LantarenVenster, and Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam, we are organizing film screenings with the Rotterdam skyline as a backdrop.
On Sunday, June 7, we are screening a science fiction drama. Her (2014) by Spike Jonze in collaboration with LantarenVenster. Why this film? First of all, Her is a modern classic with beautiful cityscapes and rooftop scenes. Furthermore, in these times full of AI stagnation, we would like to take a moment to look back at this interpretation of the theme, when AI as we know it today was still an innocent thought experiment.
About Her

Her It is about Theodore Twombly (Joaquin Phoenix), a complex and sensitive man who earns his living writing personal and loving letters on behalf of other people.
Still grieving the breakdown of his long-term relationship, he becomes intrigued by a new, advanced computer system: an AI that forms its own distinct identity based on the user's preferences. When he activates the system, he meets 'Samantha' (Scarlett Johansson), a female voice with a surprisingly human sense of humor and empathy. Their friendship deepens through all the input and experiences Theodore and Samantha share, and even seems to evolve into a sense of love for one another. But what does this emotion actually mean in this digital age?
From 20:30 you are welcome on the rooftop for a drink with a view of Rotterdam's Central District. 21:30 the film begins.

This program takes place outdoors and is not covered. The program will proceed in the rain; you are welcome to bring an umbrella or raincoat. The screening will only be cancelled in the event of dangerous weather, in which case all ticket buyers will be notified via email.
About the location
You might know this parking garage from the Red BMW by artist collective Kunst & Vaarwerk, which juts out majestically from the roof. Built between tall, mirrored buildings and reconstruction architecture, this is one of the rawest spots in Rotterdam. The perfect location for a film program that engages in a dialogue with its surroundings.
