The Schiekadeblok is an institution in Rotterdam. One of the last raw spots in the city center and home to countless creative organizations and nightlife icons. Rotterdammers have known for years that things would eventually change here. And now, the time has finally come. But first: Walk The Block during Rotterdam Rooftop Days and experience this part of the city like never before.
Air path over the Schiekadeblok
This year, Rotterdamse Dakendagen is building an aerial walkway across the entire block: bridges, stairs, and platforms connect 12 rooftops into one grand route. You enter one building, walk from roof to roof, and exit the block via another property. That latter building will be demolished after Dakendagen, so with a ticket for Walk The Block, you are one of the last people to visit this building. Walk The Block is more than a walk. It is a story about this place and the surrounding area, featuring views like you have never seen before and which will soon no longer exist. Along the way, you will see which buildings will rise here in the future, learn more about Rotterdam’s green ambitions, and discover an exhibition featuring objects and installations that we are adding to the rooftops especially for Walk The Block.
Practical
- Walk The Block is only accessible to visitors aged 12 and older. This is a safety measure from which we cannot deviate.
- You have to walk up six floors using the stairs and you cannot use the elevator. But there is also good news: the stairs are already part of the experience.
- The visit lasts approximately 45 minutes. You book a 15-minute time slot: report to the address on your ticket within that time slot to start your rooftop walk.
- Due to the access routes to the roof and the many height differences between all the rooftops, it is unfortunately not possible to make this experience wheelchair accessible.
- Wear shoes you can walk (and climb) comfortably in; you will not be granted entry with heels or flip-flops.
Walk The Block can be visited on all weekend days of the festival: Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May, and Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 June.

Admission from 12 years and older. Wear sturdy shoes: heels and flip-flops are not allowed. There are bees on the roof: we advise against visiting in case of a severe allergic reaction following a bee sting.
