A monumental 19th century building with a striking rooftop extension. Didden Village was the first project by architect’s office MVRDV that was realized in Rotterdam. MVRDV is well known for its more recent Markthal building, which opened in Rotterdam’s city centre back in 2014.
Three bedrooms in the shape of little houses are positioned on the bright blue roof, creating, in a way, a miniature village. A square, picknick area, open-air-shower, benches, alleys and streets are all present.
