The Dordstelaanflat may not immediately catch the eye, but it is exemplary. Not only because of the rooftop that seamlessly integrates into the design and is accessible to residents. The flat has, in fact, served as a backdrop in several films and is even rumored to have inspired the drawings of Fiep Westendorp for the book “Pluk van de Petteflet” by Annie MG Schmidt.
This remarkable flat from the 1950s was designed by the architectural duo Van Embden & Van Andel and, together with the low-rise sections on either side, forms an ensemble around a beautiful and tranquil inner courtyard for residents. The view of Maashaven metro station and Rotterdam is spectacularly metropolitan.
