The Hofpoort is the 95-meter high former office building of Shell located at Hofplein. The Hofpoort was constructed between 1973 and 1976, designed by architect Piet Zanstra (ZZDP Architects), and was then named Shellgebouw II, with Hofplein 19 being Shellgebouw I at the time. In 2015-2016, the building underwent a complete renovation and was renamed Hofpoort, after one of the ten city gates in 16th-century Rotterdam. The view from the rooftop of the Hofpoort is phenomenal: the entire Rotterdam city center lies at your feet, and on a clear day, you can see all the way to The Hague and even beyond!
