Accessibility

Everyone can go up on the rooftop!

Access to the rooftops

Most rooftops at the festival are normally inaccessible, except for maintenance work. As a result, access to the roof is not designed for people with physical disabilities. Some buildings have an elevator, but at others, you have to take the stairs. And sometimes there is an elevator to the top floor, but you still have to climb a few steps to reach the roof. To provide as much information as possible about the accessibility of each rooftop, we have added a filter to our rooftops page. This makes it easier for you to select which rooftops you want to visit. Click on the rooftop's page to discover which program events are taking place there. We have been able to make adjustments at some rooftops to make them accessible, for example, for wheelchair users.

Op this page You can find more info about what the different filters mean. Because everyone is different, we understand that you may have specific questions about a location. Please feel free to ask these via the chat widget on this site (found in the menu) or via info@rotterdamsedakendagen.nl

Please note: of our two information and ticket counters, only one is wheelchair accessible, namely the one in the Groot Handelsgebouw. It is open from 10:00 to 17:00 on Saturday, May 30, Sunday, May 31, Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7.

Tools

Although large objects are not allowed on the rooftop, aids such as walkers and walking sticks are permitted.

Assistance and guide dogs

Assistance and guide dogs are allowed on the roof for all program activities.

Medication

Do you have medicines that need to be stored in a refrigerator, for example? Email us via info@rotterdamsedakendagen.nl, then you can safely store this in our backstage area.

(Wheelchair-accessible) Toilets

There are a number of toilets in and around our festival area that you can use for free, including a number of disabled toilets. View this page for the overview.

Dietary restrictions and allergens

The food sold at the Rotterdam Roof Days is vegetarian or vegan. An overview of allergens is available at all food and beverage locations.

Sensory sensitivity

A visit to the Rotterdam Roof Days is comparable to a regular visit to the city. At most locations, there is no sound or only low amplification. We do not have a designated sensory-friendly room, but our volunteers and site managers are happy to assist if you are looking for a quiet spot at one of our festival locations.

First aid

Rotterdamse Dakendagen has a mobile first aid team that can be called to any location. Speak to a staff member (recognizable by a festival shirt) to make contact.

Language information

On the overview page with our program You can filter all program items by language. This way, you can see whether a program is in Dutch, English, or language-independent.

(Dutch) Sign Language Interpreters

There are no sign language interpreters present at the festival. If you, as a visitor, would like to bring your own sign language interpreter (or other companion), for example for a guided tour or a performance, we would be happy to offer you a complimentary ticket for this companion(s). You can request this via the chat widget on this site (in the menu) or by emailing info@rotterdamsedakendagen.nl.

Visiting with children

During the festival, people of all ages can go up to the roof. However, please note: not all locations at the Rotterdam Roof Days are suitable for children. Some rooftops are only accessible to persons aged 12 or older, or 15 or older. This is a safety measure that we cannot deviate from. For more information about ticket prices for different ages, please check here.
