The Maritime Museum, built by Wim Quist in 1996, is located on the edge of the Leuvehaven (renamed Maritime Museum Haven) and on the corner of the Coolsingel and the Blaak. Right in the heart of Rotterdam. It forms the connection between the city centre and the water, which is so important to Rotterdam.
The triangular building houses one of the most important and largest maritime collections in the world. The museum is committed to making this maritime heritage accessible to everyone with (changing) exhibitions and a permanent, popular children’s exhibition. On top of this building is a gigantic flat roof with a beautiful view of the harbour and the Coolsingel.
Rooftop Roetsj
During the 10th edition of the Rotterdam Rooftop Days, the rooftop of Maritime Museum will be the focus. Roam through a dazzling exhibition at height, enjoy breathtaking views of the Coolsingel and the Leuvehaven behind the museum, and finally make a spectacular descent: slide down the slide (of course, you can also just slide down the stairs). The Rotterdam Rooftop Roetsj brings a glimpse of the city of the future to life: an inspiring, playful world where water, greenery and buildings merge.
