In 1970, the C70 event took place, including a 2km cable car ride through the city center. This is part of Rotterdam’s tradition of iconic aerial events, such as the construction of the Euromast for the Floriade and De Trap during “Rotterdam Celebrates the City” in 2016. The Rooftop Walk was originally intended as part of the Eurovision Song Contest celebrations. The coronavirus pandemic threw a wrench in the works, but the plan was finally able to go ahead in 2022 thanks to support from the Municipality of Rotterdam and many others.
