Rooftop festivals and events in the summer of 2024: from Rotterdam to far beyond the country’s borders, you can enjoy rooftops this summer. We list our tips, friendly Rotterdam initiatives, festivities in Antwerp and Amsterdam, and our partners within Europe.
Every Wednesday evening from 17 July to 21 August
Listen to special concerts on the rooftop of De Heuvel, where top musicians perform on the rooftop and the carillon of the Laurenskerk is played by guest carillonneurs. With a snack and a drink included for €15. Co-organised by Rotterdamse Dakendagen.
12 July to 10 August opened from Tuesday to Sunday
Happy to see it return again: this pop-up city park on the APCOA Parking Westblaak. Expect Brazilian and Ethiopian vibes this year where food, music, and sunshine merge into a great and festive summer evening to never forget.
12 to 14 July on the rooftop park in Rotterdam-West
Designed for the neighbourhood, but open for everyone. This campsite offers you a holiday in your own city, including a genuine camping experience on top of the rooftop park. Cozy sessions by the campfire and fun festivities during the day ensure a cool summer in West.
Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September
Our sister festival in Belgium shows you what’s possible on an Antwerp rooftop. Concerts, yoga, comedy, tours, and more. This is the ideal way to (re)discover this magnificent city. Our tips: watch out for the ‘highest’ flea market in Europe and a rooftop bar on an old fortress. More programme details will be announced on the festival’s website and Instagram.
29 August to 15 September
Our partner organisation ROEF in Amsterdam transforms the Q-Park Westergas into a 350m2 city park. Featuring a vegetable garden, workshops, music, theatre, and plenty of inspiration for a sustainable future. The goal is to create the largest number of m2 of rooftop park in the Netherlands, as a gift for the 750th anniversary of our capital city.

Portugal: Açoteia – Faro Rooftop Festival: 5 & 6 July
A rooftop festival in the Algarve! With 200 events spread over 35 rooftops: exhibitions, music, theatre, dance, DJs, and food and drink. Highlights include a sunrise cinema, an immersive sound tour, and tastings. More info.
Germany: Hamburger Dachtage: 6 & 7 July
A visit to Hamburg reminds many Rotterdammers of home. During the Hamburger Dachtage, you can discover this even more, as you can also enjoy rooftops in Hamburg. A great way to explore this city. Here too, they see many possibilities on rooftops, as evidenced by the slogan: Innenstadt findet oben statt. More info.
Spain: Terrats en Cultura in Barcelona untill 27 July
Experience Barcelona like never before during Terrats en Cultura: a cultural showcase that lets you discover the city’s neighbourhoods in a new way. The 2024 edition runs from 1 June to 27 July. In July, you can enjoy music by Tacho, Núria Duran and Muchacho, with theatre performances and a wine tasting meets dance performance called Deix by Quim Bigas. More info.
